The Jenkins lab published three (3!!) reviews at the start of 2025. Kevin Bender and Paul published Axon initial segment structure and function in health and disease in Physiological Reviews. This comprehensive 352 citation beast covers many aspects of AIS physiology and pathophysiology from both the physiologist’s and cell biologist’s perspective.  Kalynn published Regulation of neuronal ankyrin localization and function by post-translational modifications in Biochemical Society Transactions. This mini-review covers several posttranslational modifications to ankyrins, including palmitoylation, phosphorylation, and ubiquitination, and their effects on ankyrin function. Finally, Carina published her review Cytoskeletal scaffolding of NaVs and KVs in Neocortical Pyramidal Neurons: Implications for Neuronal Signaling and Plasticity in Current Opinion in Cell Biology. This review highlights new findings that uncover regulatory mechanisms of voltage-gated ion channel localization to the AIS and beyond. Congrats, all!!!
